It took me ages to install The Sims 2 and I was all set to play when I discovered my graphics card wasn’t suitable. I’m so pissed! My desktop is too old and slow to play it and now my laptop isn’t suitable which means I can’t play it at all. I’m not forking out for a new machine just to play a game. I’m done buying games because there is always something you have to do to upgrade your machine. I’ll just have to stick to Sim City 4 if I get bored.

Finished converting my site last night just as the server decided to go down. I love being hosted at Netrillium but Orion was so much better before they upgraded it. Now I’m noticing the odd occasion when my sites are really slow or just going down. I can’t be bothered looking for a new host though so I’m sticking with Netrillium unless things get really bad.

I’ve been trying to write today but am getting nowhere fast. I think I wrote myself into a corner because the muse is just not co-operating and I’m desperate to get COTL out of the way so I can start something else. *sigh*

The weather is literally doing my head in as well. It has been so dull and overcast the last few days despite the rain and I’ve had a permanent headache all week as a result. I hate how sensitive I am to the weather - if I’m not sneezing - I’ve got a headache from the low pressure. Maybe I should just move to another planet or something and be done with it. I’m so cold right now, I’m shivering as a type.

Yay! My Sagittarius fanlisting has broken through the 500 members barrier at last! This was the very first fanlisting I owned and it has always been my most popular.

I’m still transferring my joined buttons over to Enth and it is boring as hell so am only doing a few at a time or I’ll end up face first on the keyboard.

There may be a slight delay in getting everything moved over and you can forget the writing for a while - I just bought The Sims 2!

All Done

The big conversion is over! I definitely won’t be doing that again in a hurry. Took me the best part of three days because I kept changing things around and customising to suit myself. I’ve now got the urge to do new layouts! LOL! No, I will be strong because I really need to do some writing! Besides I still have to move my Joined fanlistings over. Oh, joy!

I’ve had a bitch of a headache the last few days and I know it is because my neck muscles are all tight. I keep freaking out about not having a job and I hate to mention the C word but presents have to be bought soon. I haven’t had a penny from the dole and all I get are rejection letters from employers. I’m sleeping better but still have the occasional sleepless night, mainly due to worry. I just lie there and feel my heart pounding away. Anxiety sucks big time. I’ve been feeling a bit dizzy as well and I’m really hoping it is just the anxiety and nothing more sinister. I just can’t deal with labs again.

Enthusiast

I’m converting everything over to Enthusiast 3 so there will be a few errors and dead links on the site until everything is complete. Please be patient and apologies for the inconvenience.

(Later) Why do I never listen to myself? If it ain’t broke - leave it alone. It has taken me the whole day just to change over one of my biggest listings to Enth and I still can’t get the stupid affiliates thing to work properly. *cries* I now have a splitting headache and I really wish I hadn’t bothered.

Read some of the testimonials over at Angela’s site and one commented she had all her sites converted within five minutes - either she is lying or I’m incredibly stupid. This better be worth the effort ’cause I ain’t changing ‘em back!

Tangled Web

I’ve been messing around with a design all week and just totally scrapped it, then I suddenly got the idea to stop trying to use family pictures and just use pics of the old town. So, I just got an old pic of the Main St which was black and white, turned it sepia, did a softglow and slapped a title on it. It actually looks okay! Phew! Anyway, I’m putting the pages together off line and then will load it. I’m going to do a load of stuff on my home town as well just to make it more interesting.

The worst thing about this project is that I’m using my cable space which has 30 MB of ad-free space but it doesn’t have any PHP. I don’t want to use my domains because I don’t want family nosing around! LOL! No one in my family know my domain names and I want to keep it that way. Besides, this space is just sitting there so I may as well use it.

I’ve been trying to decide what to do about the photo side of things and had a look at some photo blog sites. I have a load of photos already stored at Photo Island but that place is really slow. Most of the pics are of present day members of the family so they will be viewable only to family and friends.

The actual stuff on TW starts with my grandparents and goes back from there, I’m sort of keeping with the 100 year policy over at Scotland’s People - I only just managed to get my great grandma’s birth certificate this year as she was born in 1903. They promised to put more census records online this summer but so far it hasn’t happened which is probably just as well since I don’t have the money to spend on things like this. The frustrating thing is I have large gaps in my family line on my maternal grandmother’s side, roughly in the mid 1800s. There seems to be a huge gap in the ages of the children and then they seem to disappear of the face of the Earth. Well, Renfrew anyway!

I finally got a lead on my dad’s family and was astonished to have the line circle right back to my hometown - talk about bizarre! My dad was born in Stirling and most of his family are through that way but I wasn’t expecting them to be from Falkirk before that. There are a couple of second marriages I have to explore there as well due to first wives dying young… Now I know why I decided to name it tangled web…

God, I’m so tired. Didn’t get to sleep until after 3:00 am… Insomnia sucks…

Future Champion?
Posted on September 13th, 2004 @ 7:20 pm

Congratulations to Andrew Murray on winning the US Open Boy’s title at Flushing Meadow at the weekend. Yes! You read that right! Seventeen year old Andrew comes from Dunblane, Scotland and just may be the future of British tennis! Things were looking pretty bleak there - Greg Rusedski is more or less finished and Tim Henman has just turned thirty, so may only have a couple of years left. Who was going to carry the hopes of the nation?

Andrew also won the Canadian Open title in 2003 and is easily at the age where he can compete in Wimbledon next year.

Evil thought: How great would it be if it was a Scot who lifted the men’s trophy after all this time? How upset would all those luvvies be at the All England Club? *snickers*
