At last rainy-daze.net is now open and looking for hostees. I’m looking for small personal sites and fanlistings. You will get 10MB of space, although more may be negotiable, depending on what you want to do with it. [rainy-daze.net]

New Fanlistings

I’ve finished the Victor Webster fanlisting and I’ve spent all morning cleaning up pictures of him I found on the web for a gallery which is linked to the listing. God, this guy is HOT!

I’ve just got the Lady Heather fanlisting to create and it will probably be my last ever. I’ve decided not to apply for anymore since I have quite a selection and I’ve taken down my wishlist as a result.

The domains are all working correctly now so you shouldn’t be experiencing any problems. I’ve been working on my family tree website and installed a script called PHPfamily which makes everything so much easier. I’m not listing the URL because I want to keep it private from here but those of you who know me via LJ will probably find out. The script keeps the details of those born after 1910 restricted and they can only get access if I add them but will probably only do that for family.

After waiting over 48 hrs for a reply from Netrillium about upgrading my account, I decided I’d had enough and I’ve moved all my sites to ToastyHost. I’ve moved everything over but the subdomains still haven’t propagated but hopefully it will resolve itself sooner rather than later.

It does mean my Joined section will be temporarily unavailable so if you are checking codes or whatever, please be patient and try again later. My own fanlistings won’t be available either for a while, so again, please bear with me.

Big Changes

I finally, finally have a permanent job! I went for an interview on monday afternoon and got a phone call yesterday to say the job was mine! I don’t have an official start date because there’s paperwork to be done and that will take time.

I’ve also decided to upgrade my account with Netrillium to the first Reseller package because I need more space for a few projects I’ll been working on. The first being my family tree which I’m bringing over from my free cable account. I bought a domain for it this morning and will hopefully get started on it soon. I won’t be advertising the URL here because it’s private family stuff but those I consider friends will find out where it is from my LJ sooner or later. Some parts of the site will be restricted to family members only though.

The other project is free web hosting. I’m going to use a portion of my reseller account to host fanlistings or small personal sites - the emphasis being on “small” since some ppl like to take advantage of these things. I guess it will mainly be aimed at those who are not in a position to buy their own domains or web hosting yet. It gives them a chance to get away from those awful hosts with banners on the pages! *shudders*

Bored

I’ve tweaked around with my fanlistings as much as possible and opened a couple of new ones: Richard Burgi and Genealogy. I also applied for two more that were recently removed from the network.

I also did some layout tweaking at my two fansites because the new WP1.5 installation was messing up the comments pages. It’s all fixed now. I had thought about using the new Pages feature to integrate everything into WP but I just think the sites are too big for that and it all looks better the way it is for now.

I’d really like to get more space so I can move my family tree website over here and put it on its own domain. My free cable account doesn’t have PHP and I hate working without it. I could get round it by using iframes or something but I really hate frames of any kind.

I’m so bored I could scream….

April Blues

I finally got completely bored with the old look and decided to change it. I was in the mood for something Spring-like and decided I wanted a more generic banner instead of the usual fandom stuff. As I’ve said before, I’m trying to learn how to use PS so I’ve been having a go with some brushes and the above banner is the result. I’ve still got a lot to learn but it is a start!

I’m also still getting the hang of all the new stuff in WP1.5 and realised I totally forgot a few templates in my theme. I’ve no idea how the Pages worked before since they did show up properly but changing the layout slightly seemed to mess everything up despite the fact I was changing nothing major. Ah, well, the proper Page template is working now! You live and learn as they say!
