Wordpress 2.0
Posted on December 30th, 2005 @ 11:41 am

I’ve just upgraded to WP2.0 and everything seems to be working okay as far as I can tell. The upgrade was pretty painless since I don’t really hack WP or add a lot of plugins. The plugins I do use seem to be okay and the new admin panel is very snazzy with a lot more javascript.

I’ve been using my laptop the past few days (taking advantage of my wi-fi connection) but today I’m back on the desktop and it’s made me realise just how crap my 800*600 res monitor really can be when looking at sites.

Finally, a new layout (not designed by me unless you count the colour scheme and header) and used Dynamic Text Replacement for the first time!

Let It Snow
Posted on December 27th, 2005 @ 8:01 pm

It finally snows two days after Christmas! Ah, well, it’s pretty anyway. My cold is almost gone - still a bit stuffed up and feeling generally low on energy but it could be worse. I was really feeling awful on Christmas Eve and felt so tired the whole day so I wasn’t holding up much hope for Christmas Day at all. I was also a little bit dizzy which kinda freaked me out. Anyway, on Christmas Day I actually felt a whole lot better, albeit still tired, but at least I wasn’t that bad.

I got some great presents and I absolutely love my ipod nano! I think music sounds so much clearer on it than even a CD and it is so tiny! I’ve read a few posts online, claiming it will only last me a year, but it better last a whole lot longer than that because it wasn’t exactly cheap. I reckon some ppl really need to learn how to take care of things more.

The real bummer is I have to go back to work tomorrow and I really can’t be bothered at all. I still feel like I’m in a holiday mood. It’s only for a couple of days though and then I’m off for a whole week and plan on doing nothing but relaxing.

Merry Christmas
Posted on December 22nd, 2005 @ 7:38 pm

I finish work at 12:30 tomorrow for my Christmas break and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s been a tough week because I haven’t been feeling well. I’m totally choked up with the cold and I just feel generally blah! I only took one day off work because I felt it wouldn’t look right being off so near the holidays but I have really felt like shit the last few days. I wasn’t too bad this morning but started to feel really tired at lunchtime and I had to open a window to get some fresh air because I felt like I was going to pass out. I’m so glad I don’t have to go to work until next Wednesday - hopefully I will be over the worst by then.

Merry Christmas to everyone who visits the site and thanks for your comments!

Christmas Lunch
Posted on December 17th, 2005 @ 12:30 pm

It was the office Christmas lunch yesterday and it actually went a lot better than I was expecting, despite a last minute fashion crisis. I was never planning on wearing anything really fancy since it was an afternoon thing but I heard a couple of the girls were getting really dolled up so started to freak a bit. I did some last minute frantic clothes searching but found nothing I liked so I was starting to wish I’d decided not to go. This is the first time I’ve had to go on one of these things for a long time and we have quite a few younger girls who are very trendy and I was scared I was going to look like a complete dork.

I even raided my mum’s closet in the hopes of finding a rare wee gem of a top somewhere but it wasn’t to be. I was starting to get really pissed by this point and just decided, what the hell, I’ll just wear the black top I originally intended to wear. As it turns out, there were plenty other people similarly dressed so I didn’t feel so stupid in the end, besides everyone was more interested in the fact I’d left my hair down for a change. LOL!

The meal was good but the portions were really small so you didn’t get that bloated feeling. I was a bit nervous about the vegetarian choice but it was actually very tasty for a change. Some places are so unimaginative when it comes to veg dishes and it’s little wonder I hardly go out for a meal.

At least it is all over and I’ve only got a week to go before the Christmas break and I’m really looking forward to it because I am so damn tired just now. I don’t know if it is just the stress of Christmas or whatever but I feel wiped, plus everyone is sick at work and I’m doing my best to avoid any germs. Not easy!

My ipod arrived! WOO HOO! Santa confiscated it though…..

Bloody Con Artists
Posted on December 4th, 2005 @ 1:21 pm

This so damn frustrating! My brother is trying to get a Barbie Pegasus Styling Head for my niece and it seems to be sold out over the entire UK. The only place they seem to be available is on eBay where you have to buy them for twice the price or direct from the USA with a massive shipping fee for guaranteed delivery by Christmas! I hate when ppl take advantage like this! Grrrr!

It looks like we’re going to have to tell Lucy Santa ran out this year and wait until after Christmas now because I refuse to give in to the shysters on eBay!

Ah, December
Posted on December 3rd, 2005 @ 8:23 pm

I’ve spent most of the day making sure all my scripts are as up-to-date as possible in light of all the hacking that is going on lately. Honestly, there has to be something very sad about ppl who get a kick out of destroying other people’s hard work. I mean, what exactly do they get out of it? They need to get out more.

It’s been a strange week at work. I’ve mentioned how anal my boss can be at times and how frustrating it is working with her. Well, it looks like she finally bought a clue and has started to realise how we feel. On Friday, we all had individual meetings with the department head (my boss’s boss) and she actually listened to us and promised to take our views into consideration. Afterwards, we all felt really relieved and you could virtually feel the tension evaporate. We got a lot off our chests - that much I can tell you and it felt great so I’m hoping that it is a step in the right direction because it was starting to become very oppressive.

I also think I have a bad case of shopping fatigue because I’m damned if I can be bothered getting my last few Christmas presents in. *sigh* I was doing so well but I guess I ran out of steam and now I’m having to force myself. I just really can’t be bothered with the overheated shops and mile long queues at the check outs. Hooray, for the internet!

Still waiting on my ipod though and I’m not sure if Amazon UK will come through before Christmas. I could search shops the length and breadth of the country if I was determined enough but see aforementioned shopping fatigue syndrome. I can wait unlike those sad gits who queued for hours to get their mitts on the new XBOX so they could sell it for twice the price on Ebay. I don’t know what is more disturing those determined to make a profit or the idiots spending over £1,000 on something they can probably get easier in the New Year for a fraction of the cost.
