Well, today I approached work with a much more positive attitude and sat down with L and really discussed what was bothering us the most about Lazy Cow. Afterwards, we decided on a course of action that will essentially divide the work up into three parts - each of us responsible for our own area. It’s not our preferred method but it’s the only way we can prove that we are doing the majority of the work and the only way to get rid of the stress we are under.
Let’s hope it works!
Have you ever felt that you are getting nowhere fast? My life at work is so chaotic at the moment and the annoying thing is if other people were doing their jobs properly, it wouldn’t be like this at all. We have a new member of staff, well, she’s been with us over 3 months so I don’t think new really qualifies anymore and she is basically a lazy cow. It means myself and my other colleague have to do more than our fair share of work to pick up her slack and I’m getting tired of it all. Lazy Cow is actually off work with another concocted illness that suddenly improves whenever there is a football match in her near future but it was almost a relief not having to listen to her moan about crap all day long.
There are also two others in our dept who are not allowed to have holidays at the same time so they can cover each other’s jobs but for some reason the Big Boss decided to approve both their leave for the same days in November. That means L and I have to cover two other people’s jobs as well as our own over the space of four days and I could just cry thinking about it. The only good thing is Lazy Cow will be on her own and it will be so obvious that she doesn’t have a frigging clue about anything.
I thought I’d better update this thing before it turns into a Thursday Thirteen blog only! Oops! I’ve just been so busy the past couple of weeks and I’m still doing overtime on Saturdays which is helping pad out my Florida savings account nicely. I’ve got a dental appointment this month so that may put a dent in the savings since I’ve had to go private, honestly, it is such a major drama trying to sign up with a dentist these days because of the shortage. The dentist is not my favourite place in the world and I’m naughty about going on a regular basis, so my last dentist dropped me. The nerve! I’m keeping everything crossed that I don’t need too much work done but I’m sure I’ve lost part of a filling and one of my wisdom teeth is really sensitive.
The weather has deffo turned nasty now. You can really feel the chill in the air and it is getting darker in the mornings which is doing nothing to encourage me to get out of bed for work. I consider myself a winter baby but I really hate getting up for work in the dark.
I also started my Christmas shopping and am half way done which is good because I’m so determined not to be caught in the trap of hunting down supplies of this year’s “must have” toys!
Nothing seems to be ever easy in regard to the Florida holiday! We opted to pay more for the extended leg room seats but discovered we couldn’t have them because one of our party is disabled. They also expected us to pay an extra £24 each so we could all sit together. In the end, we decided to forget the extra space and just pay to sit together. We also had to pay for the flight meal in case we still aren’t allowed to take our own food and drink on board - nine hours is just too long to go without food and I’m sure there won’t be much to eat on the plane. As soon as we land, we’ll probably stuff our faces silly with food. My uncle was telling me about the pancakes and waffles he’s tried over the years and my mouth was watering at the thought. Pancakes for breakfast? Who would’ve thought!
I sent away for my European Health Insurance Card this week - it won’t entitle me to free medical care or anything in the US but apparently, it helps speed things along! Ah, well, it was free and may come in handy if I travel in Europe.

Yay! After a lot of hassle from less than cooperative family members, we have settled on a date at the end of April and we have booked the flights and are about to pay the deposit. I’m really disppointed that we can’t take the kids like we planned but this is going to be the trip of a lifetime for me and I’m so looking forward to it! It will be my first trip on a plane and my first trip to the USA.
There are so many things I want to do and see! I already have my airfare saved up so now I have to just keep saving to get as much spending money as possible and I’m going to just concentrate on having as good a time as I can.
