Am I the only person in the world who doesn’t give a stuff about Harry Potter and all the jazz that goes with it? Apparently, help lines are going to be set up for those lamenting the end of the series when the final book is released. I could think of better things to worry about….

Finally, congratulations to Hannah who answered my Quotes challenge and I’ll be plugging her for a week as promised.

Weekly Wrap

Boy, has it been a busy week! We had some industrial action on Wednesday which was lovely and I could really get used to a mid-week break but the big drawback there was catching up on Thursday. I had a mountain of mail to get through as well as all the financial stuff which had to be done around the constant interruptions. Some people just have no patience - they are me, me, me all the time whether their query is important or not. Anyway, I did the sensible thing and mentally told them to bugger off while smiling politely and nodding my head at appropriate times before filing the queries in the “Tomorrow Is Another Day” tray.

I made the most of my free time on Wednesday and went to the opticians to see about monthly disposables lenses. I wear Gas Permeable and have done for years but I feel that technology is moving on and the GP ones are restrictive. The new ones have been ordered and I need to get them fitted once they are ready. I’m probably going to get some daily disposables for my trip to Florida.

I also bought a new Yogalates DVD and have been trying it out over the past few days. Apparently, it really helps you lose weight and tone your body so I thought I would give it a go. I’m so glad I’m doing it on my own though because I feel like an ungainly Heffalump compared to the graceful people on the DVD. They are described as gentle exercises but that in no way means you don’t suffer because some of the positions are so hard! You just don’t get all sweaty and jump around like an idiot. For maximum benefit, you have to do the routines at least 3 or 4 times a week so I basically decided to do one half hour session each day because a whole hour of exercise bores me to tears. I’m sure once I start seeing the benefits for myself it will give me an incentive to go on.

Finally, congratulations to Hannah who answered my Quotes challenge and I’ll be plugging her for a week as promised.

02) Death lies on her like an untimely frost; Upon the sweetest flower of all the field.

03) It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to, than I have ever known.

04) I never wanted to go away, and the hard part now is the leaving you all. I’m not afraid, but it seems as if I should be homesick for you even in heaven.

05) It is in vain to say human beings ought to be satisfied with tranquillity: they must have action; and they will make it if they cannot find it.

06) …treachery and violence are spears pointed at both ends; they wound those who resort to them worse than their enemies.

07) Thousands of lights were burning on the green branches, and gaily-colored pictures, such as she had seen in the shop-windows, looked down upon her. The little maiden stretched out her hands towards them when–the match went out. The lights of the Christmas tree rose higher and higher, she saw them now as stars in heaven…

08) One half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other.

09) Heaven knows we need never be ashamed of our tears, for they are rain upon the blinding dust of earth, overlying our hard hearts.

10) Second to the right, and straight on till morning.

11) We have learned now that we cannot regard this planet as being fenced in and a secure abiding place for Man; we can never anticipate the unseen good or evil that may come upon us suddenly out of space.

12) Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!

13) In matters of grave importance, style, not sincerity is the vital thing.

Good luck! I’ll plug the winner for a week!
