Procrastination

I’ve had the week off work and was determined to fill in trips to Edinburgh and other places but as usual I’ve achieved pretty much nothing. I get like that sometimes. I’m sure if I didn’t have a job, I’d spend the rest of my life hiding in my house. I’m not one of these adventure types who seize life with both hands and never let go. I live my life more quietly and I’m pretty much a loner. It’s not that I don’t want to do things or am too lazy to do them, I just seem to get into this lethargic state of mind which means it’s pretty hard to motivate myself. I really should adopt Scarlett O’Hara’s famous phrase: “Tomorrow is another day” for my blog. That seems to be how I see life! Add in a dose of insomnia and pre-menstrual blues and that sums up my week.

So, today, I was determined to get out of the house and use my shiny new Historic Scotland Friends card by visiting Edinburgh Castle. It seemed doomed to fail from the start! The first train was cancelled completely and I had to wait another half hour for the next one which was actually fourteen minutes late! I really wanted to be at the castle in time for the One O’ Clock salute and just made it by the skin of my teeth! The Fringe is over and the Festival ends on Saturday so there weren’t many performers on the streets but the place was over flowing with tourists. Of course, the castle’s dominant position over the city means it’s uphill all the way and my calves were burning with pain by the time I got up to the esplanade! I was wearing my trainers which are very comfy but so flat when you have a high instep!

The castle was brimming as well but luckily, I don’t have to queue for tickets since I’m a Priority visitor! I must say I quite like walking passed the queues with a smug grin on my face! Yes, peasants, Lady C is visiting! I had my trusty camera with me of course so you can look forward to some piccies soon.

Oh, and do you remember this little chap? Keep an eye on my blog for a chance to win him and other souvenirs I picked up today!

aww sorry to read your trip was not an easy flowing one. The castle sounds like so much fun to explore :)

Sounds like our luck when trying to go to the secret island! *giggles*

Oh, I’d been to Edinburgh Castle - to the Tattoo, butt we never went inside the castle unfortunately. I wonder if they allow photos taken inside?

They allowed that when we visited Dublin Castle, which I think is awesome when they do. Here in Sweden it’s very often forbidden to take photos inside and of course I understand why, butt I don’t like it anyway.

You are allowed to take pictures, apart from certain areas like where the Crown Jewels are, for instance. Doing a post on them soon.

Edinburgh Castle is more like a military barracks and there isn’t much to see in the Royal Palace.

It really depends on what’s inside the castle in regard to photos since some furnishings and paintings are too delicate.

That is awesome to have a priority ticket! I can’t wait to see your pictures. I love the teddy bear; it is so sweet! :-)
