Like A VirginOctober 9th, 2007 @ 5:32 pm
We’ve been having a lot of hassle with Virgin Media over the past couple of weeks; we were really starting to wonder if we should cut our losses and go with Sky. It all began when the downstairs box started freezing up and we asked for an engineer to come out and fix it. The engineer came out, replaced the smart card and everything seemed fine. A few days later, the interactive features stopped working entirely so we called the phone number on the screen and ended up talking to someone in a call centre in India. You have no idea how frustrating that was for me. I stayed as calm as possible and spoke very slowly and clearly. The trouble is the call centre operators work from a script and they have no real understanding of the technical stuff! To cut a long story short, she couldn’t help and logged the call for an engineer to call us within 5 days.
Before she ended our call, I asked her to reset the PIN on the box we have upstairs and she assured me that she had done it. I went upstairs and it was still locked. So, we finally got a call back on Monday from a lady in the UK who arranged for an engineer to come back out and then reset the PIN number on the second box. Not. I tried it when I got home and it was still locked!
Anyway, the engineer came out today and replaced the first box with one of those fancy new Virgin+ boxes with the hard drives and actually managed to get the PIN released (at last!) on the second box. So, we now have a new deal to go along with new box with an increase in internet speed to 20MB! And now, I have access to a whole library of TV programmes!

Sounds like you have a very complicated but also sophisticated TV system with world wide ’support’.
We use cable TV. I watch the news and 24 and my wife watch Grace Anatomy and thats all. And the children: well thats interesting as they watch very little TV and spend more and more time on their puters.

Hey Caledonia! That is great that you got a new deal and everything is all fixed.
I would be so impatient with the waiting. We were having some problems with our cable company at one point, that we almost decided to get a satellite dish.

The Champagne is still flooding over at Lifecruiser and the place is full of ghauls, witches and other scary blogger creatures.
So, having any blood vessels over for the vampires I’ve invited tonight?
*ghostly giggles*
Oh, and promise: no worms in the champagne glasses!!!

Must be a completely other system as what we have here, our cable TV and the Internet comes from the same company and it’s the Belgian Telecom. Can’t complain about them. Belgium had cable TV already in the end 60th! It was automatically put in together with electricity, gaz and telephone connections in new constructions and it is still the most cabled country in the world. I have never known antennas or parabols.
BTW today I take the Cyber Cruise to the home of my friends in Italy which dates from 1462 ! So if you are interested to have a look ….
