What A Week!

For many it was the first complete week back at work but it also proved to be one of the most difficult. On Tuesday night, the wind started to pick up and throughout the night it became gale force. I hardly had a wink of sleep the whole night as it rattled around the house and lifted stuff from the gardens. By the time, I forced myself to get up for work, the wind was still howling and it was so strong, it was literally suffocating me. Most of the houses where I live escaped unharmed but houses actually collapsed in some areas of Glasgow! Wow!

The new love for having a trampoline in the back garden also proved to be a hazard as many escaped their moorings (if they had any) and were blown across roads. Beware of low-flying trampolines was the latest traffic warning. Of course, fallen trees was also a problem and many roads were closed until they could be cleared. The biggest problem was in the closure of the Forth Road Bridge due to storm damage and that meant badly congested roads everywhere. Since my home town is located in the heart of Scotland, we suffered particularly badly and it took me almost an hour to get home in what should have been a 10 - 15 mins journey. It steadily got worse as the evening progressed.

The wind finally died down the following day and then it was back to freezing cold temperatures and ground frost. I had to cross the Forth Road Bridge yesterday through thick fog and it was so bizarre not being able to see anything! By the time we got to the other side, it was all gone and sunny!

That must have been terrible ! Since we had once a terrible storm I think it was in 91 with a windspeed of nearly 200km/h I really am afraid of wind. As you said the wind was howling around the house and the next morning when I looked out of the window 3 of our trees lay across the street ! Fortunately our house hadn’t any damage but some others yes, even a roof flew away !

PS I don’t know anymore if I invited you to the Ice Sculpture Exposition in Brugge where I have been ?

I’m always afraid with storms! You never know what can arrive! And of course when you are driving …thanks for your visit in Avignon. We had really good time during this visit!

Egads! Trampolines?!?!? I am glad you weathered through the storm.

Wow. That is one way I hope to never get to see trampolines ;-)

I heard that the west part of Sweden had some stormy weather too, maybe it came from you. It seldom comes all the way to Stockholm (east coast), thankfully.

Scaring weather report. It has been extreme weather in Oslo, Norway the last week too. A while ago I was glad I could report about finally snow - and normal winter weather - but now it has been raining and blowing like crazy :-(

I can sympathise. We were living in the south of England when the famous “hurricane” happened. I slept through the whole thing and woke up to devastation. It looked as though we were on another planet - totally unrecognisable!

Wow! That sounds like a hurricane! Luckily y’all escaped its wrath! Yikes! We have a trampoline, but we haven’t put it yet since we moved.
